A Brief Preface:
The idea of Brokers is one I've been kicking around for a very long time. Originally, it was born from musing on short stories. However, it quickly occured to me that the scope and magnitude of the story would warrent a whole novel (if not several) if I truly followed through with it. These novels would inevitably be rather trashy sci-fi/fantasy jobs, full of the same over-used ideas sci-fi/fantasy authors had been toying with for the past half-century or so. At the time, I was incredibly, stubbornly idealistic about my writing abilities. Now, I 've relaxed quite a bit. This story will be created through multiple mediums. This is intended to be a slightly less spontaneous version than the pen & ink one I'm drafting, resembling more a story, not the construction plans for one. Still, I've not set out to create a masterpiece, merely to explore the directions writing can take me. Continuity & direction should not be taken for granted nor even expected. This will be, for me, an exercise in experimental writing - not experimental in a grand "reshaping the literary tradition" sense but in a sense that allows me to try things I've never tried before and revisit many older styles. Don't expect anything more. Having said that, this project feels like it will be fun, whether it lasts for hours or years. Feel free to add any comments, positive or negative.
